A Good Boy

I woke before the morning, I was happy all the day,
I never said an ugly word, but smiled and stuck to play.

And now at last the sun is going down behind the wood,
And I am very happy, for I know that I've been good.

My bed is waiting cool and fresh, with linen smooth and fair,
And I must be off to sleepsin-by, and not forget my prayer.

I know that, till to-morrow I shall see the sun arise,
No ugly dream shall fright my mind, no ugly sight my eyes.

But slumber hold me tightly till I waken in the dawn,
And hear the thrushes singing in the lilacs round the lawn.

Robert Louis Stevenson

  4. Edward sure is a smart fellow. What a delightful 'life attitude' he (and RLStevenson) have. We should all be so appreciative.
Thanks for getting me off on a sparkly day, Pamela.

  6. Where in the world could Apple be ? I'm beginning to think that she must be the poor ugly duckling sibling. We'll keep on looking for her.

Winnie says a big hello to both Apple & Edward. cheers from NS, xo S.

  9. Hello Pamela......
I was so pleased to you stopped by my blog and left a comment. Its always good to meet a new fellow blogger.

Yes, I do agree, the Blue Willow in Social Circle is dream Restaurant. Such an exquisite choice of delicious dishes...... We have wonderful memories of our visit there together with the memorable time we spent in the American South..... How hospitable you Southerners are! You are amazing people.
I see you like Scotland! Have you visited? Its rather dismal there right now, same as the rest of UK.... unlike you, we have been having so much rain this summer. Love your Blog. Marion

  11. Just visited the last few entries and they are all quite delightful. I recognised Jackie immediately! Ah, yes, Austen and the Bronte's - wonderful writers. Do you like George Eliot too? I love Middlemarch and the Mill on the Floss and Adam Bede. I am presently waiting for the shuttle to take me to the airport - next stop, Paris. What could be better than to pass the time waiting than visiting dear blog friends! Oh, and tell Edward, Gal and Trist went off quite happily to the kennels today despite the great lump in my throat. Love Eleanor

  17. Oh, I'm even more excited to have found your rich, delicious blog! I have added you to my bloglines feeds.
The next several posts on my blog will be a little boring, I'm afraid, as I promised my fellow whippeteers all the details of my Sweden trip. But I will get back to telling dog stories.
I'm so delighted you found me!
