And Death Shall Have No Dominion
And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.....
And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.....

ReplyDeleteI think that poem was the inspiration for the painting, 'Resurection' by Stanley Spencer. He was a great favourite of mine for a long time, and lived only an hours drive from my house. Maybe I should go on my own pilgrimage :)

During Easter weekend (no, I did not play for the Easter bunny:) ) I was in the painting zone, and finally finished some things - sorry, but I hope you had a great Easter. I like this painting very much - an angel-like being, but not sentimental for a change!!
