Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!
There’s a bright, golden haze on the meadow,
There’s a bright, golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye,
And it looks like it’s climbing clear up to the sky.....
Oh, what a beautiful morning!
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I got a beautiful feeling,
Everything’s going my way.....

What a clever way of celebrating the inauguration xv.
ReplyDeleteHello P&E,
ReplyDeleteSuper picture to mark the day. I hope you and Edward have a great one!
Hallelujah, and that's a great song.
ReplyDeleteI am ready to put an American flag in my yard, at last. Beautiful image.
This is one of my favorite paintings, and I have had the pleasure of seeing it in person. What a lovely painting to see on this historic day!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Wishing you a wonderful day!

What a perfect song and painting for today!
ReplyDeleteHurray!
I think the world over has such high hopes for Obama. We are hoping he will be able to turn this recession around.
ReplyDeleteI am watching the live coverage on the BBC from England, and it is so exciting! I think the world is joining in your happiness and pride. A great day indeed. :)
ReplyDeleteSo apt Pamela. I've just watched the Inauguration Ceremony and smiled throughout. How wonderful it was. I loved the little slip Obama made as he was sworn in.
ReplyDeleteToday I could wish I was American.
I couldn't have put it better!
ReplyDeletepure joy!
A-M-E-R-I-C-A...America!!! :D
ReplyDeletePamela, Childe Hassam is one of my favorite paintings. I have the Flags on the Waldorf lithograph and I love it. Lucky President Obama (and all Presidents) to get to see the Flags painting in the White House. I would have it in my bedroom as Kennedy did or in the Oval Office.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so glad we didn't get the other guys for another four years. Obama is smarter, more capable, and still just one man.

ReplyDeleteThat rather says it all!
ReplyDeleteCan't remember the last time, if ever, I thought it might be rather good to be American...
May God Bless America from shore to shining shore!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Pamela! I love this. (you won't believe my word verification letters - realecem - could it not be read 're-elect him?!'
ReplyDeleteOh, this is one of my all time favorite paintings in the world. So glad you posted this today.
ReplyDeletePamela - I LOVE visiting your blog! There is always something to delight and today's is no exception. What a wonderful painting paired with such a deceptively simple but quite, quite apposite piece of writing. A great day indeed, and you capture the feeling perfectly.
ReplyDeletePamela~ That painting... spendid.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly depicts the atmosphere in Washington on Tuesday.
