Birthday Icing

Birthday Icing

Edward is sad because Apple feels bad.
Thanks so much for all your sweet letters and comments about Apple.  I am happy to report that she sailed through the surgery like a champ and is now back at home recovering.  She’s snuggled into a huge, soft-sided crate in our bedroom and we are taking turns sitting with her.  She’s in a bit of pain but that is to be expected.
I spent my birthday Sunday icing her knee, which I’ve been doing all day today.  In fact, I’ll be doing this for the next five days.  Then we’ll switch to heat compresses.  They’ll be plenty of time for a birthday celebration later.
All this from chasing squirrels.  I’m afraid I’ve rather gone off those creatures.

  1. Well! Doesn't this situation just take the cake, icing and all?! When our loved ones need us, we are there for them, no matter what day it is. But I am happy to hear the prognosis is good. And just remember, 'tis nobler to give than to receive. What finer day to be noble than on your birthday? What finer gift than to help Apple through her ordeal? Happy Birthday, "Nurse Pamela"!

  2. Even with the delayed birthday celebrations, I bet it is a happy one to have Apple back home. So glad it all went well.
Many Happy Returns of your Birthday sans worry about cold compresses and poor Apple.
No matter what, family comes first and birthday celebrations are all the sweeter when everyone is well.

  3. An ice pack in one hand and a bottle of something in the other. I went through something similar when my weenie Sister suddenly became paralyzed. Her disc had ruptured and after a midnight cross state drive through rain and snow, right before Christmas, the doctor at the University hospital for animals was able to fix my child, Sister. She had never been crated before, let alone on a leash, so I held her or kept her next to me for weeks. I was so happy when she finally was up and around. I love her so. Good luck and God speed to Apple and you, and, happy birthday.

  5. Anmd the sad thing is that you can't explain to her that it is a silly thing to do healthwise, can you?

All I can say Pamela is that Apple is jolly lucky to have two such loving parents. Happy Birthday by the way.

  27. Get well soon Apple. I had to have a toe removed from my Dog 6 years ago, from chasing a cat. I laid in bed with him and had such guilt that I let them do it. Soon he was well again. I still dream of my guy
he was part of me. yvonne
