Books for Your Adventurous Baby Brother
As a little boy, he ran away from home at the drop of a hat, disappearing into the woods with his Irish Setter for hours and hours at a stretch and driving your parents to distraction. He chose Dartmouth College for the simple reason that the Appalachian Trail runs right through the center of town. Since graduation, he’s traveled to almost every country on the globe. Your heart skips a beat every time you get one of his oddly stamped letters and you’re secretly hoping he’ll become a travel writer before too long.
He’s coming home for Christmas this year.

I am currently reading this translation and, while I’m no Russian scholar,
I can say it’s lyrical, powerful and clear.

ReplyDeleteI like your descriptions of your brother and best friend, and I will choose the translation of Anna Karennina you suggest, and will look at The Old Ways.
ReplyDeleteLove to see your book choices. And as an aside, Birdie (my parrot) is sitting on my shoulder perusing your blog, craning his next to look at the pictures. He finds your blog very interesting too.

I love your list, charming
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful books for anybody's list Pamela. The farmer has just looked over my shoulder and has fallen madly in love with Edward in Winter on your sidebar. Not sure whether he has not similarly fallen in love with you - he was certainly very interested in the photograph!
ReplyDeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteThank you for, once again, helping me narrow down the long list of books as possible gifts for loved ones, including for me! :-)

The book lists given and those past are a wonderful resource to access at any time as are older post when inspiration is wanning. Keep up the intriguing tales. More.
