SEA JOY

When I go down by the sandy shore
I can think of nothing I want more
Than to live by the booming sea
As the seagulls flutter round about me

I can run about--when the tide is out
With the wind and the sand and the sea all about
And the seagulls are swirling and diving for fish
Oh-to live by the sea is my only wish.

This little poem was written by Jacqueline Bouvier when she was ten years old.
I know just how she felt.
I leave for the seaside at daybreak.
Be back soon!

  17. I was at the lake, but it isn't the same as the sea. I would love the smell of salt. But I did love being at the lake too.

    Come back refreshed.

  26. I consider myself very lucky to be living 10 year old Jacqueline's dream. I can see the sea from my house, it's just a few minutes walk away and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

    Have a great holiday!

  31. This is included in the Favorite Poems of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. She was very underrated as a poet herself. Thanks for sharing again.

Poetry came late to me, but this volume and this poem spoke to me as a lover of the sea.
